General facts

A la suite du vœu adopté par le Congrès de Liège en 1930 et confirmant les motions du Congrès de Rome en 1923 et de Charleroi en 1925, le Congrès international de l'Enseignement technique qui s'est tenu à Paris du 24 au 27 septembre 1931 a décidé la création d'un Bureau international de l'Enseignement technique. Le texte des statuts du B. I. E. T. a été établi d'accord avec le Bureau international du Travail de Genève, qui, à sa session de janvier 1932, a désigné lui-même les pays qui devaient siéger au Conseil d'administration. Depuis sa création, le B. I. E. T. a organisé les Congrès internationaux de l'Enseignement technique. D'autre part, il a réuni une documentation très importante sur l'organisation de l'enseignement technique dans les différents pays. (HB 1936) Following a recommendation adopted by the Liége Congress in 1930 and confirming resolutions of the Rome Congress in 1923 and the Charleroi Congress in 1925, the International Congress for Technical Education which met at Paris from September 24th to 27th, 1931, decided to set up an International Bureau for Technical Training. The text of the Statutes of the LB.T.T. was drawn up in agreeement with the International Labour Office, Geneva, which at its session in January 1932, designated the countries that were to be members of the Governing Body. Since its inception the LB.T.T. has organised international Congresses for technical education at Brussels in 1932, Barcelona in 1934 and Rome in 1936. The next Congress will be held at Berlin in 1938. It has also collected a very large amount of documentary material on the organisation of technical training in the various countries. (HB 1938)
