General facts

(HB 1925) The Pan-American Scientific Congress owes its origin to the Latin-American Scientific Congresses, the first of which was held at Buenos Aires in 1898, the second at Montevideo 1901, and the third at Rio de Janeiro 1905. At the Fourth Congress, 1908, it was suggested that the activities of the Congress should be extended to the whole American Continent. Thru the first Pan-American Scientific Congress was held at Santiago de Chile 1908-09, the second at Washington 1915-16, the third at Lima 1924-25 and the next will be held at San Jose, Costa Rica, in 1931. (HB 1929). (HB 1936) The Pan-American Scientific Congress owes its origin to the Latin-American Scientific Congress, the first of which was held at Buenos Aires in 1898, the second at Montevideo, 1901, and the third at Rio de Janeiro, 1905. At the fourth Congress, 1908, it was suggested that the activities of the Congress should be extended to the whole American Continent. Thus the first Pan-American Scientific Congress was held at Santiago de Chile, 1908- 1909, the second at Washington 1915-1916, the third at Lima 1924-1925. At the Congress of Lima it was decided that in numbering the Congresses the previous Latin-American Congresses would be taken into account, so that the last Congress which was held in Mexico in September 1935, was the seventh Pan-American Scientific Congress.
